After yoga last week I was having a little therapy session with a dear friend and she reminded me of something that hit me in straight in the core.
Remember, Meghan, we become like the 5 people we spend most of our time with.
I’m healing from a year of some major trauma. I allowed myself to be surrounded by toxic people. I felt trapped, small, scared and full of anxiety on a regular basis. But in the middle of all of this, I never really stopped to think that even the unintentional company that we keep can have a huge affect on our business, life and success.
As online entrepreneurs, human to human connection is a bit harder to come by. We often love what we do so much that we spend most of our days inside of our homes, working on a computer, and not connecting in real time. We don’t have that same experience of going to work, being with people all day. So the fact that I was allowing the precious human connections I did have to be with toxic, low vibration people, spoke volumes.
Thankfully, God released the circumstances from my life that were bringing so much suffering. And it wasn’t until I was free from that hold that I even remembered what it was like to spend my time with good, genuine people. People that inspire me. People that love me and that I love right back.
Coincidence that my business is growing FAST, that ideas are flooding in, that my health is amazing, that I’m seeing my man in a brand new light? No way.
Take some time today and write down a list of the 5 people that you spend most of your time with. Take into account any jobs, family, friends, bosses, co-workers, clients. Who are you connecting with most of your time? Now, see if the vibration of these people collectively is high, low or just okay. Whatever that vibration is, that is also the vibration being spread into your business, your life, your health, your relationships. It’s all connected!
I’ve been talking a bit this week on Facebook about taking responsibility for our own energy. This is a new nonnegotiable for me. Showing up the way I want to be seen. That’s what plays in my mind all day. It’s a big responsibility to own a business. And it’s an even bigger responsibility to keep my energy in check. If I do find myself in a negative/toxic situation, it is actually on me to get out as quickly as possible. To pray, surrender, clear, smudge, and repeat as many times as necessary to raise my vibration back to the level that I want to be in.
